Speaker: Ms. Hala Raad, M. Ed. Senior Special Education Teacher at the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Department at the American University of Beirut Medical Center.

Ms. Hala Raad opened the session with a very important factor, she clarified the difference between Learning Disorders and Learning Difficulties and our misconception that both are the same. Ms. Raad gave a thorough and detailed explanation differentiating between a disorder and a disability. Moreover, Ms. Raad discussed techniques and accommodations used to help the child improve academically.  Concluding the session Ms. Raad emphasized on the importance of early screening and early intervention to help the child and gave a glimpse on the assessment process and the diagnostic criteria used.
